Melbourne's Best Spaghetti Bolognese |
A blog about a hunt for Melbourne's BEST Spaghetti Bolognese.
1 year = 52+ Spaghetti Bologneses.
Sarah Pinch is on a mission to find the city's best Spaghetti Bolognese by sampling one restaurant a week for 52 weeks and report the results at www.spaghettiblogenese.com.
I love food, and I really love Spaghetti Bolognese. I've given myself one year to find Melbourne's best Spaghetti Bolognese. Starting from September 1 2011, I have 52 weeks to eat at least 52 different Spaghetti Bolognese dishes.
I'll post about the dishes I eat, and will rate them accordingly. See my judging criteria here. At the end of the year long taste testing my favourite Bolognese will be chosen and crowned as the best in Melbourne.
We actually giggled when we read this blog about Spag Bol, in light of Melbourne's search for the perfect parma.. aka parma daze.
update
With only a few weeks left the anticipation is building as to who will take the title for the best bolognese in Melbourne. You may be wondering how I'm going to decide on a winner considering it's been a year since I've eaten some of the spag bols up for the title. Rest assured I have thought this through. I have a plan.
By September 9, 2012 I will have completed the task of tasting 52+ of Melbourne's restaurant standard bolognese dishes, and it will be then that the top three will be decided, based on my food notes and scores.
The winner will be revealed at a finale party I'm holding on the September 13 and I'll blog live from the party to reveal the winner!
And the winner is..
Thursday 13th September 2012
I'm blogging to you live from the winner announcement finale party being held at YGAP in St Kilda. The drinks are flowing courtesy of Jack Rabbit Vineyard, DJ Kynda is on the decks pumping out tunes and bowls of spag bol are being sampled by guests. The space has been decked out thanks to Complete Function Hire and Meko Creations are currently dishing up a special dessert in honour of the blog.
All this aside, everyone was all ears when I stood up a moment ago and announced the winner of Melbourne's best Spaghetti Bolognese. 52 Melbourne restaurants, $981.91 spent on bolognese, approximately 16 kilos of pasta and sauce consumed and it boils down to this..
3rd place: Villa Romana, Lygon Street Carlton 18.5/20
2nd place: Ladro, Greville Street Prahran 19/20
1st PLACE: Rococo on Acland Street in St Kilda dish up the BEST spaghetti bolognese (in my humble opinion) with a score of 19.5/20
