Newsletter | #303 | What's On this WeekWelcome to this week's Melbourne events, exhibitions, sports and community guide for Tuesday to Monday, October 23 to 29, 2012.

This week... It's truly a mixed bag of events with the return of Diwali celebrating Indian culture and the French Polynesian Festival at the historic Como House. If you visit the website of the latter, they invite all to come and 'vibrate' while watching a live dance show, and while I'm not sure what that entails, I'm game for it if you are.

There's a great many community festivals about including the Sacred Kingfisher Festival, Surrey Hills Music Festival and Activation in Chadstone. And for avid fans of good old fashioned rock and roll, there are two fine events to pick from with the Tallangatta Fifties Festival and Camperdown Cruise Rockabilly Festival.

Finally, should you come across some pale chap with an awkward, stumbling gait this weekend, don't be alarmed. You've either walked headlong into the Melbourne Zombie Shuffle, or you've simply run into me.

The pale complexion's the shock of having committed to martial arts lessons - trust me, you'd understand how shocking that is if you knew me. It's akin to hell freezing over or A Current Affair going a week without plugging a weight loss fad.

The awkward, stumbling gait's from what I like to call Kendo-legs - an affliction my lovely partner doubts is real, probably because it often strikes when it's my turn to make a coffee.
