A multi-sensory wellness experience
Unwinding: Ceremonial Matcha Making and Sound Bath brings together several mindfulness practices in a single guided session at SOMA SNCTRY in Carlton. The experience begins with gentle breathwork and meditation to help participants settle before moving into a 45-minute sound bath using crystal singing bowls, therapeutic Peter Hess bowls, a medicine drum and gong. The combination of sound and meditation is intended to create a quiet space for rest, reflection and relaxation.
Discover the tradition of ceremonial matcha
Following the sound journey, guests are introduced to the mindful practice of preparing ceremonial matcha. The session explores the traditional tools used in Japanese tea preparation, the symbolism behind the ritual and techniques for whisking matcha to achieve its signature frothy texture.
Participants will watch a live demonstration before preparing their own ceremonial-grade matcha under guided instruction, encouraging a slower and more intentional approach to tea making. Journaling also forms part of the experience, providing time for personal reflection after the sound bath and tea ritual.
Take-home reminders of the experience
Each participant receives an affirmation magnet and a complimentary pouch of ceremonial matcha to continue the ritual at home. Pillows, yoga mats, blankets and the matcha are provided, allowing guests to simply arrive in comfortable clothing and settle into the session.
The experience is open to beginners, with no previous knowledge of meditation, sound healing or matcha preparation required.
Important information for participants
Guests are asked to arrive 10 minutes before the session begins, as late arrivals cannot be accommodated. Participants are also encouraged to stay well hydrated before attending.
As with many sound healing experiences, anyone with a pacemaker, severe heart condition, high blood pressure, epilepsy, a recent surgical procedure, pregnancy or other significant medical concerns should consult their healthcare provider before attending.
