parkrun is a free community event held every Saturday morning at local parks around Australia and involves a 5km walk or run.

Parkrun is non-competitive, with the goal to improve on your own previous weekend's time.

7 years ago Tim Oberg brought parkrun to Australia, now there are 335 locations around Australia and more than 40,000+ participants weekly. Junior parkrun has recently been launched and is held on Sunday morning's at Westerfold Park, Fitzsimon Lane, Templestowe.

Every week Junior parkrun gives children aged 4 - 14 years the freedom to run a kid-friendly 2km course with their peers, free of charge, managed solely by volunteers (marshals are stationed every 100m of the course).

Time to get the indoor generation outside!

'Junior parkrun offers families the opportunity for kids to engage in organised physical activity, free of charge. Parents know the kids will be outdoors, exercising and safe. And they know they can commit to it because it doesn't carry a cost."said parkrun CEO Tim Oberg.
