East Brunswick Club
Sadly its official. The East Brunswick Club will shut down at the end of February 2012 to make way for a five storey apartment block.
Oscar + Martin's show with Parking Lot Experiments and Milk Teddy at The East on Wednesday 29th February will be the last EVER show at The East Brunswick Club.
Pete and Pam, the venues owners, have thoroughly enjoyed their time with The East, but after many years in the industry, have decided it's time to kick up their heels and retire. Unfortunately, the new owners will not be continuing the band room.
During it's time, The East has been host to great Australian acts from a wide variety of genres, including The Drones, The Mess Hall, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Lisa Mitchell, Cloud Control (all previous Australian Music Prize recipients), Laughing Clowns, C.W. Stoneking, Regurgitator, My Disco, Big Scary , The Hard-Ons, Airbourne, Angus and Julia Stone, Boy & Bear, Urthboy, The Temper Trap, Jet and Seekae.
The East has also been host to such international acts as The Dirtbombs (USA)/Jay Reatard (USA), El Guincho (Spain), Band Of Horses (USA), The Drums (USA), Kate Nash (UK), The Bats (NZ), Eilen Jewell Band (USA), Battles (USA), Caribou (Canada), Eli 'Paperboy' Reed (USA), Band of Skulls (UK), The Jim Jones Revue (UK) and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta - USA) amongst others.
We would like to send out a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all of you who have eaten, drunk, sung, screamed, hummed, applauded, wolf whistled, danced, swayed, gotten lighters out during emotional songs, shook tail feathers, and shared good times at The East. You are the reason that we get up in the morning, and you have provided us with some very fond memories that will never be forgotten! THANK YOU!
