Victoria's Top 20 Attractions

Federation Square is Victoria's No 1 destination for overseas visitors to the state, according to a Melbourne Airport survey.

And the MCG surprisingly only just scraped into the state's top 20 attractions for foreign visitors.

Over five days in August, hundreds of tourists on various international flights out of Melborne were asked where they had been during their visit to the state.

Almost two thirds visited Federation Square, more than any other attraction, the survey revealed.

The square boasted 7.3 million visitors from across Melbourne and Victoria, interstate and overseas, from Octobr last year to September this year, almost twice its initial target of four million a year.

13. National Gallery of Victoria - 13%
