This week, the School Holidays offer plenty of fun at Warrnambool's Fun4Kids Festival, but the grandparents can have their share too with the Fun In Retirement Expo this weekend. The children's film festival, Little Big Shots makes a stop in Frankston, while the Emerge Festival offers special screenings at ACMI. The ongoing display at Fed Square's Light in Winter ends this week, so be sure to bask in the glow while you can.

School Holiday Guide
Helbourne is an exhibition of text and image that tells a narrative of five people who are thrust together by unseen currents of coincidence over one winter evening. Set within select bars, cafes and retail stores of Melbourne, the exhibition ends July 13.
Melbourne-SCAPES, an exhibition currently running at Obscura Gallery in St Kilda, combines the work of five photographers and their unique visions of Melbourne. Photos included feature iconic lane-ways, the Docklands precinct and other aspects of Melbourne.
Darwin with Tears celebrates Lyndal Jones' successful career at the forefront of Australian video and performance art. Showing at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, it includes work that represented Australia at the 2001 Venice Biennale.
Expos
Docklands Bridal Spectacular takes place at Telstra Dome this Sunday with the last major bridal exhibition for 2008. Featuring over 200 suppliers on display, the event showcases all that's needed for wedding planning along with a bridal fashion parade.
Melbourne Winter Boat Show begins this Thursday, running until next Monday at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. With displays from the best in the marine business, the show offers something for enthusiasts of water skiing, wakeboarding, fishing, cruising and more.
Arts & Theatre
Interviews with Famous People sees actors Melanie Sharp and Darren Lever use various theatrical methods to recreate celebrity interviews. Blurring the lines between the lives and thoughts of the famous and the ordinary, the show runs at Carlton's La Mama.
The Thing About Men is a moving but light-hearted musical comedy from the writers of the successful play, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. A story of infidelity and the many complications it brings, the show begins Thursday at St Kilda's Theatreworks.
Some Girl(s) is the Australian premiere of Neil LaBute's comedy in which one man makes a cross-country trip to make amends for wronging four former girlfriends. Offering a humorous look at sexual politics, it runs until July 6 at Chapel Off Chapel in Prahran.
Wicked, based on Gregory Maguire's novel, is the hit musical that tells the untold story of the legendary witches from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Now playing at the Regent Theatre, the show reveals the surprising past of the supposedly Wicked Witch.
Boeing-Boeing, starring Shaun Micallef, is one of the most enjoyable and mischievously funny shows to hit Melbourne in years. Offering a seriously sexy and funny twist on classic comedy, performances have been extended at the Comedy Theatre, running until July 5.
The Children's Bach, based on Helen Garner's renowned novel, finds its home on the stage in a new opera about family, sex and housework. Set on the banks of Merri Creek, ChamberMade's production runs at Southbank's CUB Malthouse until July 5.
Live @ Blvd - Airway Lanes will be performing at Southbank's BLVD Bar this Thursday, showcasing songs that feature lyrics with a very human depth from their new album, In Vino Veritas. Support acts on the night include Lloyd Spiegel and Charlie.
Live Comedy
Not Quite Right is the latest performance by ABC Radio host and Melbourne comedian, Toby Sullivan. Exploring life with his husband, the fact that Toby's approaching a rather balding 40, and how he came to be in Sydney for a day, the show will run at Trades Hall until July 12.

Melbourne For Kids
The Quanzhou Marionette Troupe, one of China's great cultural treasures, will be visiting Australia for a limited performance season at the Chinese Museum, showcasing Chinese marionette history dating back 2,000 years. Running from June 28 to July 4, master puppeteers will beautiful puppets creating lifelike portrayals of men and women, spirits and wild animals in the stunning traditional shows.
Disney On Ice - Join Mickey and Minnie on a sightseeing tour of the imagination as they travel to five amazing destinations - all in one action-packed ice show! Held at Rod Laver Arena from July 2 to 7, the magical show is full of excitement, humour, friendship and much more, as your tour guides Mickey & Minnie, take you through picture-postcard worlds packed with surprises and familiar guests.
Luna Freeze - Luna Park will be making the most of the winter months with Melbourne's newest ice skating venue, held in the middle of Luna Park's Winter Wonderland. With ice-skating set to cool tunes and all under dazzling lights, Luna Freeze runs until October.
Circus Shows
Circus Oz, Melbourne's very own international stars, are celebrating 30 years with a high-energy spectacular that thrives with colour, comedy and breathtaking feats designed to excite audiences of all ages. Pushing the boundaries of conventional circus their show blends imagery, contemporary music and comedy with a live band. They will be performing at Birrarung Marr with shows running until July 13.

Lest We Regret..
Originally intended as a memorial arch that would span across St Kilda Rd, it was also proposed at one point that the Shrine of Remembrance instead be a cenotaph in a large "ANZAC Square"at the top of Bourke Street.
As this would have also included demolishing one of Melbourne's oldest buildings, the Windsor Hotel, the 1927 ANZAC Day march was also held as a demonstration, led by General Sir John Monash, former commander of the Australian forces.
