A new undercover bus interchange is located at domestic Terminal Four (T4). The old bus interchange located at Terminal 1 (T1) is no longer in operation. The new T4 bus interchange provides direct access to Tiger Airways, Jetstar and Regional Express services, with all other airlines departing from T1, T2 and T3.

The T4 bus interchange is located approximately 10 minutes’ walk from T1, so customers are reminded to plan ahead and consider additional travel time to access T1, T2 and T3.

Bus Routes that will service the new T4 bus interchange:
Melbourne Route 478: Airport West to Melbourne Airport
Melbourne Route 479: Airport West to Sunbury via Melbourne Airport and return
Melbourne Route 482: Airport West To Melbourne Airport (via South Centre Road)
Melbourne Route 901: Melbourne Airport to Frankston (SMARTBUS Service)
Plan your journey to the airport using our journey planner.

For more information about the new Terminal Four, visit t4you.com.au

SkyBus, the 24-hour airport shuttle service, will continue to stop at T1 and T3.

SkyBus runs express between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne's city centre, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre. Buses run every 10 minutes from 6am to 11pm and every 15 to 30 minutes at other times.

3. Taxi Services

Taxi Services - There is a 24 hour taxi rank outside the main terminal.
(Aprox Fare to CBD AU$55.00, more late night).

Melbourne Airport partners with coseats.com (ride share) and cabfriend.com (taxi share). This can instantly find you a friend to share with in all suburbs and save 30% to 75% of the cost of a taxi. You can also use coseats from the Melbourne Airport ride sharing page.

We understand that Uber and other taxi services are not supported at Melbourne Airport.

4. Public Transport

At this point in time, unfortunately it is not easy. It requires combing a bus and train journey. A bus to either one of 2 stations (Broadmeadows or Sunbury) and then a train into the city. The trip although the cheapest option will take roughly an hour.

Protectabag
Protectabag can ensure that suitcases, boxes, golf clubs, back packs, baby buggies, car seats and any souvenirs are safely wrapped for before, during and after your flight.

The service applies a strong film of stretch wrap plastic around your bag, forming a secure envelope of protection against objects being inserted or removed from your luggage.

Protectabag wrapping also provides waterproofing, protection against rough handling damage, and ties-up any loose straps - minimising the chance of luggage being damaged in conveyor belt rollers.

Protectabag also guards against the effects of zips popping open and provides support to weaknesses in baggage.

Taking less than a minute, the Protectabag application allows for handles and wheels on the item to be freed so they can be used in the normal way.

Other services provided by Protectabag include bubble wrapping damage protection and supply of small/medium inexpensive bags for repacking of overweight bags.
