LEGO Pokémon SMART Play comes to Melbourne Central

The LEGO Store Melbourne Central is hosting a free LEGO Pokémon SMART Play Zone from Saturday 19 September to Sunday 4 October 2026, with daily demonstrations running from noon to 5pm during the Victorian school holidays.

The in-store experience gives children and families a chance to try the recently released LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range before taking it home. LEGO Brick Specialists will demonstrate how the system combines traditional building with interactive bricks, tags, lights and sounds, without requiring children to play through a screen.

At the centre of the system is the SMART Brick, a 2x4 LEGO brick fitted with sensors that respond to movement. It can recognise turns, twists and taps, while a colour sensor reacts to its surroundings. SMART Tags can change how the brick responds during play, allowing children to build different scenarios around Pokémon characters and locations.

LEGO's current Pokémon SMART Play range includes sets such as Training House with Pikachu, Mewtwo's Lab Break, Jigglypuff Concert, Berry Bash with Bulbasaur and Bidoof, and Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle. The interactive sets form part of the wider LEGO Pokémon collection released in 2026, which also includes display-focused builds aimed at older fans.

Free activities and Pokémon GO rewards

Visitors to the Melbourne Central zone can take part in the demonstrations without an admission charge. Promotional rewards associated with the activation include a LEGO Pokémon sticker or, while limited stocks last, a LEGO Sitrus Berry SMART Tag, along with a Pokémon GO passport stamp. Terms and conditions apply to the giveaways.

The store is also offering its regular LEGO passport activity, with Eevee featured as the stamp of the month.

The LEGO Store Melbourne Central is on Level 2 of Melbourne Central, at the corner of La Trobe and Swanston streets. The store trades daily, although the hands-on LEGO Pokémon demonstrations run specifically from 12pm to 5pm during the school-holiday activation.
