Independent Music Exchange: Record Fair

There is still something special about music you can hold in your hands. Vinyl, cassettes, zines, merch and limited-run releases all have a character that streaming can't quite replace.

The Independent Music Exchange brings that culture together at Northcote Town Hall on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 2026, with more than 50 independent labels from around Australia taking part.

Across the free two-day event, music fans can browse records, cassettes, test pressings, magazines, merchandise and artist-signed items, with plenty of rare and small-run releases on offer.

The event began in 2023 as part of The Eighty-Six Festival and has since grown into its own standalone gathering for independent labels, artists, collectors and fans.

Labels appearing include Poison City Records, Chapter Music, Hobbies Galore, Music in Exile, Room40 and Third Eye Stimuli Records, alongside many others from across Australia's independent music scene.

In 2026, the program also includes panels and workshops for emerging label operators and music makers, while Skylab Radio will broadcast live across the weekend.
