Gingerbread Village - Melbourne
One of Melbourne's most popular Christmas celebrations, the Epicure Gingerbread Village vanished in 2022 without warning.

The Gingerbread Village featured 600 kilograms of gingerbread, 460 kilograms of royal icing, 200 kilograms of marzipan and around 900 miniature Christmas trees.
It depicted Melbourne landmarks in gingerbread form, including Flinders Street Station, the Melbourne Zoo, the MCG, the Arts Centre, Luna Park, St Kilda beach, the Grand Prix, the Royal Children's Hospital and Flemington racecourse.
Nearly 1000 tiny figurines, including penguins, snowmen, sumo wrestlers and football players, stood within the village walls.
The Gingerbread Village launched in 2010, and each year a team of chefs and volunteers from catering group Epicure worked from Melbourne Cup Day until the end of November baking the gingerbread and building the village.
Entry to see the Gingerbread Village was by gold coin donation and raised more than $135,000 for the Royal Children's Hospital.
Initially, the Gingerbread Village at Melbourne Town Hall then moved to FedSquare (2018) and then Emporium shopping centre.
