Ernest Leahy: Platform 10 Ghost @ Flinders Street Station |
Melbourne's Flinders Street Station has seen a lot over the years - but Platform 10 has a resident that never quite caught his last train.
Meet George. According to local legend, he's the ghost of Ernest Leahy, a fisherman who drowned in the Yarra in 1902 and apparently decided the afterlife could wait.
He's been spotted standing on Platform 10, fishing rod in hand, staring out at the river like he's still waiting on that one stubborn catch.
More than a century on, and the man hasn't moved on. Honestly, fair enough - the Yarra's not going anywhere either.
So next time you're on Platform 10, maybe don't edge too close to the platform.
George is harmless enough, but he's been fishing for a while now, and he's not too fussy about what he reels in.
