Connie's Italian Diner | Closed |

Owners Michael and Zara Madrusan closed Connie's Italian Diner on 27 May 2023.
There are already plans to resurrect it in a better location.
Owners Message
Connie's is built upon family. We opened the Russell Street doors shortly after welcoming our second child, at a time when the nation was being reunited with its extended families after a painful period of isolation.
We embraced the ceremony and celebration that comes with eating simple and authentic food with those you love. We indulged in feelings of nostalgia, taking people back to a simpler time, somewhere that felt warm, fuzzy and familiar. It filled our cups as we filled yours, as we sat front row to see Melbourne come together again over a saucy bowl of spaghetti with a generous serve of Parmesan cheese.
To Connie, the ultimate Grandmother and matriarch who still, at age 95 makes the tastiest pizza. To the staff that have lived and loved this venue over the last year. To our family and friends who helped build and grow the concept. To everyone of you who has ascended the stairs, sipped on a spritz at the bar, devoured a slice, doodled on the tables and danced under the oversized disco ball.
Tonight, on Russell Street, we raise a glass to say buona sera Connie's Italian Diner. We will welcome you again, Melbourne, at another time, in another place. But until then... x
