The original TV series ran from 1971 until 1988 was hosted by Johnny Young and spawned many successful artist careers including Jamie Redfern, Dannii Minogue Tina Arena and Debbie Byrne.
The show spawned numerous hit singles, fifteen Young Talent Time albums, a film, swap cards, boardgames, toys, and numerous Logie Awards.
Young Talent Time was taped at the studios of ATV-10 in Nunawading, Melbourne with the odd show taped at TEN-10 in Sydney or on location.
44 episodes were produced per year for 18 years. The episodes were broadcast in black and white from April 1971 to April 1975 then in colour. The final episode aired on 23 December 1988.
