Thornbury Picture House
Thornbury Picture House is a new boutique cinema and bar open inside an old 1920 motor garage.
It's the latest project from independent cinema guru Gus Berger (the guy responsible for the George Revival Cinema in St Kilda)
We're talking 57 seats, a big 6m screen, state-of-the-art Krix 5.1 sound system and loads of aesthetic touches scattered around the place. Stuff like old film canisters, classic Cuban film posters, 8mm and 35mm film cameras, set-lights and 16mm projectors.
The program is a good mix of well-known faves, docos, late night cult films, kids' classics and some more niche, local independent stuff.
The bar is the usual summery smash of G&Ts, craft beers and locally sourced wine and nibble on shared plates of calamari and antipasto from nearby Umberto Espresso Bar.
We are located at:
802 High St.
Thornbury VIC 3071
(in between Dundas St and The Thornbury Theatre.)
We are on the corner of High St and Pender St, Thornbury.
Get off at stop 41 on the 86 tram along High St.
Get off at Thornbury and walk up Blythe St to High St.
There are a number of bike paths to bring you here and when you find us we have six bike spaces to lock up to.
Although we'd rather you didn't drive as there is limited parking around us - there is ample of parking on High st but please beware of the clearways at peak times. Sometimes you can find a park in the Aldi car park off Dundas st after 7pm.
