St Kilda Pier & Breakwater offers panoramic views of Melbourne’s skyline and Port Phillip.
Enjoy a snack at the heritage kiosk while on the pier or look out for penguins, rakalis (native water rats), and other wildlife from the breakwater.
St Kilda Pier has nearby barbecues, picnic and playground facilities.
St Kilda Pier dates back to the mid 1800's as an early working jetty. The breakwater was later constructed for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, as a safe harbour for sailing events.
St Kilda Pier Kiosk is currently CLOSED.
St Kilda's Little Penguins
A new penguin viewing boardwalk has been built to improve the penguin viewing experience and provide significant habitat improvements to provide protection for penguins by separating visitors from the sensitive penguin nesting sites.
The dedicated viewing platform overlooks vital habitat for this penguin colony. You will experience the little penguins as well as stunning views of Port Phillip Bay.

St Kilda, Williamstown, Port Melbourne and Penguin Ferry Service
The popular ferry travels between St Kilda Pier, Gem Pier in Williamstown, and Station Pier in Port Melbourne. Bookings are recommended.
The St Kilda Ferry departs from St Kilda Pier at the lower-landing near the start of the pier.
