St Kilda Film Festival 2017

Celebrate Melbourne’s annual St Kilda Film Festival!

Australia's Top 100 short films, SoundKILDA music video competition, International shorts, free filmmaker development events, Industry Open Day & more!

Commencing on Thursday 18 May and running until Saturday 27 May 2017 the festival will see the St Kilda Town Hall transformed into a thriving hub of culture and arts, boasting state-of-the-art cinema technology to enhance the overall experience of visitors.

This iconic event screens more Australian short films than any other festival in all genres including drama, comedy, documentary, animation and digital media.

We screen the Top 100 short film entries received, and the competition is fierce! The short film competition awards over $50,000 worth of cash and in-kind craft awards, including a $10,000 prize for Best Short Film!

Other prizes include Best Director, Best Achievement in Screenplay, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Indigenous Film Making, Best Comedy and Best Achievement in Sound Post. Prizes are awarded by a three person independent jury panel following initial selection into the competition by the Festival Director.

As well as the short film competition, St Kilda Film Festival features the SoundKILDA Music Video Competition. Selected by a panel of industry specialists, prizes will be awarded in three categories: Best Independent Music Video, Best Music Video – Animation and Best Music Video. There will also be a special audience award, judged by you and presented at the screening.
