Shani Alexander - Thank Your Mother For The Chickens

Enter a space where colour, sound and recollection come together.

Emerging from a rural homestay and a casual invitation to gather from a friend's spring garden, Thank Your Mother For The Chickens signals a turning point for artist Shani Alexander - a clear break from the past.

Working from a makeshift studio with Requiem filling the room, Shani approached each canvas instinctively, letting movement and feeling guide the process.

Every stroke carries weight. Remove one and the balance shifts; add one and the work tips toward chaos. That fine line between control and spontaneity sits at the core of the collection.

The title draws on the spirit of WWII-era bartering, when even the simplest exchange held real worth. In much the same way, these works ask you to reflect on what matters, what you might let go, and how colour and gesture can express something deeply personal.

Presented at STOREHOUSE, the exhibition is a celebration of colour, creative freedom, and the artist Shani has grown into.
