Returning OnlyMelbourne Readers

I bumped into a regular at my dog park unaware that she was a OnlyMelbourne regular and after chatting for a while, highlighted something we could help her with.. content that has changed since she last was on the website.

OnlyMelbourne has grown over 25 years, now listing over 70k pages, events, locations, weekend markets and heads-up articles.

Yes, we have a What's New page, featuring new events and advertisers, but what about recuring events events. TBH, sometthing we had not considered. Yes, they are in the calendar, and in other lists like Today, This Weekend, Weekend Markets but often lost in the huge amount of things on in Melbourne.

Melbourne has grown, we are now 7m+ people.. and with that comes not 100s of events but thousands of events "every day".

So.. welcome to ChatGPT > Name

The page identifies the date the reader was last here and displays a list of records = events (e) and advertisers (v) that have been added (new) or updated (record changed) since they were last here..

This is a world-first.. updates live specially for you. Content that has been added since you were last on our website.

A personalised changelog for the city

“Returning OnlyMelbourne Readers” would greet repeat visitors with a tailored feed of what’s new since they last dropped by — not just new posts, but also updated or recurring listings. It would make the city feel alive and familiar at once — “Here’s what’s changed in your Melbourne.”

Help us help you... we do not record or monitor your likes.. its for you and you alone.

What should we call it?

“Updates Since You Were Here”

“What’s New for You”

“Missed This? Here’s Since Your Last Visit”

“Catching Up”

date_submitted → when the record first went live (should never change).

date_updated → when content was last edited (even minor text changes).

start_date / date_end → actual event duration (user-facing).

date_created / timestamp → system value if you have auto-updates.

Step 1: Define the filters

For your setup, the obvious top-level filters are:

Events (rows with CatParent matching event categories or active start_date)

Venues/Advertisers (those with display_ad_profile = yes)

Articles/Features (those without event dates, usually content pieces)

Optional: By City, By Date Range, or even By Tag if you’ve got them.
