MILESAGO is a work in progress. Our mission is to compile a comprehensive web-based resource about Australasian (i.e. Australian and New Zealand) popular music, popular culture and social history in the twelve-year period from 1 January 1964 to 31 December 1975.
Nowadays Australian and New Zealand rock and pop music is well known throughout the world, thanks to acts like INXS, AC/DC, Crowded House, silverchair and Kylie Minogue -- but this is a comparatively recent phenomenon.
Although Aussie bands of the '60s and '70s were demonstrably as good as (and often better than) their English and American counterparts, few had the chance to prove themselves to world audiences, and the wealth of Australasian pop and rock produced in this era remains one of the music world's best-kept secrets.
