Margaret Court Arena
Margaret Court Arena (MCA) is the third retractable-roof stadium at Melbourne Park.
'Show Court One' was built in 1988, the year the Australian Open Grand Slam tournament moved from Kooyong to its current home at Melbourne Park.
The court was officially re-named 'Margaret Court Arena' (MCA) as a tribute to Australia's most successful female tennis player on the eve of the 2003 Australian Open Tennis Championship (12 January 2003).
With the capacity increased from 6,000 of 7,500, the redeveloped MCA features a state-of-the-art retractable roof - the fastest of its kind in the world, opening or closing in just five minutes
MCA is an exciting new addition to Melbourne's live music scene, hosting a wide variety of local and international acts.
MCA is also well-equipped to host entertainment events beyond live music, including comedy shows and corporate events.
Margaret Court Arena has been a key feature of the Australian Open Tennis Championship since 1988. With some of the world's best tennis players having graced the court, it has been a centerpiece of Melbourne Park and an integral part of the traditions of the Australian Open.
Lauded for providing an intimate environment for players and spectator alike, MCA is widely regarded as providing one of the best tennis viewing experiences in the world.
Melbourne United and Melbourne Tigers host games at Margaret Court Arena.
Melbourne Vixens play games at Margret Court Arena.
Margaret Court Arena is best approached from the CBD by foot, and is just a 10 minute walk from Federation Square via Birrarung Marr and the Tanderrum Bridge.
