Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Victoria presents JUBILEE, featuring Trial By Jury
This production in the heart of Melbourne's theatre district celebrates 90 glorious years of 'innocent merriment' from one of Australia's oldest performing arts groups, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria, and 150 years of Trial By Jury, which began the most successful partnership that the theatre has known.
Trial By Jury, is "probably the most successful British one-act operetta of all time" (Kurt-Friedrich Gänzl), which starts with a breach of promise of marriage and becomes a frothy courtroom comedy.
Presented with an historical and musical recreation of Gilbert and Sullivan productions in Victoria with particular emphasis on the 90 years of the Society.
Showcasing our most brilliant performers old and new, with full chorus and orchestra. Created by Director Diana Burleigh with MD Timothy John Wilson.
