IL Vicolo Courtyard Restaurant has earned its reputation as a favourite venue to dine in this busy Italian quarter.
Rising from oak-lined Grattan Street, this traditional double-storey terrace opens to reveal a contemporary blend of wood, chrome and glass matched by modern-day dedication to service and presentation.
Italian for laneway, IL Vicolo 's name originates from the lane which once led to the local butcher and baker. Now a courtyard enclosed in glass and topped by stained glass, the lane is a popular place to entertain.
The courtyard, near transparent with a canopy of stained glass, is the perfect retreat for those more intimate occasions. It can also function as three separate dining areas. Seating up to 40 diners, the front courtyard offers street-scape views under the delicately lighted hues of the stained glass roof.
Our back courtyard provides room for as many as 30 diners and opens onto a secluded exterior courtyard shaded by silver birches and leafy ferns. This exterior courtyard comfortably seats up to 35 guests and provides the perfect venue for parties wishing to take advantage of Melbourne's balmy summer weather. Relax in cool comfort in the summer, or relish in warmth in the winter: our all-seasons courtyard is a popular place to dine.
