In 2020 the Herring Island Summer Arts Festival will run from 18th January to 13th April.
There are three groups presenting three distinct exhibitions on the island plus there will be the usual open day on January 27 when the artists will combine forces to offer a demonstration day in the courtyard to show off the variety of skills and inspiration.
The Herring Island Summer Arts Festival showcases contemporary Australian visual art including painting, photography, sculpture and fibre art, as well as special Australia Day activities.

Ebb and Flow
The exhibition will be opened and the 2020 Festival launched Between 12 and 2pm on 18 January 2020
The exhibition is open from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm on the weekends of 18, 19 | 25, 26, 27 January | 1, 2 | 7, 8, 9 February
An exhibition of smaller sculpture reflective of place and narrative in sculpture and on the island.
The River Yarra is actually tidal as it "Ebbs and Flows" around this natural beauty accessible at weekends by punt. In a small gallery in this bush setting the 15th Herring Island Summer Arts Festival will be held from 18th January to the 15th April 2020
There will be a formal opening on Sat 18th Jan when the festival will be launched with this exhibition of work entitled "Ebb and Flow" by members of the Association of Sculptors Victoria.
In 2020 each of the exhibitions will be open on one Friday to give an opportunity to groups with office hours staff assistance to visit the island and gallery. The "Ebb and Flow" exhibition will be open on Friday 7th February. Groups might like to consider a group size of around 12 for ease of access to the punt. The island is wheel chair accessible only with assistance. Contact Parks Victoria 13 1963.
Always very popular, sculptors will be present to answer questions and on Australia Day public holiday (27th January) artists from the different groups will be set up in the courtyard of the gallery to demonstrate some of their skills.
A great opportunity to see some small sculptural works as well as the permanent works scattered around the Island. Enjoy the short walk and perhaps a BBQ or Picnic. Bring the family.
After the exhibition closes images of the works will be on the ASV web site in the exhibitions section.
All Groups will be represented in our Australia Day Program plus there are all the experiences of Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park.

Where is it?
Access to Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park & Gallery is by Parks Victoria's punt service which operates on weekends and on Australia Day from 11am to 5:00pm from the Como Landing (Melway Map 2M C2).
