Full Moon Cultural & Music Festival

Full Moon Cultural & Music Festival
Celebrate the Full Moon Festival Under a Giant Glowing Moon at Burwood Brickworks

If you're looking for a family-friendly evening that blends live music, culture and a little rooftop magic, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival at Roombe Rooftop, Burwood Brickworks is worth adding to the calendar.

For one afternoon and evening only, on Saturday 5th September 2026, the rooftop will transform into an enchanting festival space inspired by one of Asia's most cherished celebrations. Expect romantic styling, fairy lights, a giant glowing moon and plenty of places to settle in while enjoying the entertainment. Best of all, the venue features a stunning giant glasshouse, so the festival can be enjoyed rain, hail or shine.

The live music line-up spans contemporary favourites and nostalgic classics. Award-winning band Lavely Music, winners of an ABIA Award, will perform alongside Shanghai Duo, whose vintage Shanghai jazz evokes the glamour of a bygone era. Cultural performances will run throughout the afternoon, with organisers even hinting at a surprise flash mob.

The festival has been designed with all generations in mind. Children will have room to explore the rooftop, while adults can browse food and drink stalls, soak up the atmosphere and capture memories at a portrait-style photography studio offering quick family photo sessions. Even four-legged companions are welcome, making it one of the few pet-friendly cultural festivals on Melbourne's calendar.

Guests are encouraged to embrace the occasion by dressing in cultural attire. Those without their own can hire elegant Hanfu on site, with professional hair styling and makeup available to complete the look.

As daylight fades, the rooftop comes alive. Fairy lights begin to sparkle, lanterns glow and the illuminated moon provides the backdrop for the ancient tradition of moon gazing. Bring your own lantern or pick one up at the festival before joining family and friends to enjoy the evening sky.

One of the cultural highlights is a traditional Chinese shadow puppet performance, which brings to life the legendary story behind the Mid-Autumn Festival, offering visitors an entertaining introduction to the history and symbolism of this much-loved celebration.

Early Bird tickets are just $15, including a moon-shaped mousse cake and a discount on a family photography package-making it an affordable way to experience an afternoon of live entertainment, culture and community.

Whether you're coming for the music, the food, the family-friendly atmosphere or simply the chance to enjoy one of Melbourne's most picturesque rooftops beneath a glowing moon, this festival offers a fresh take on a timeless tradition.
