Elephant and Waterhole Trails @ Werribee Zoo

The Werribee Open Range Zoo has opened its fabulous Elephant Trail: a stunning 21-hectare, world-class habitat for the zoo's nine Asian elephants.
Spanning the size of the entire Melbourne Zoo, this expansive space provides the herd with plenty of room to explore.
It features two massive pools to help them stay cool, supplied by 150 million liters of recycled water via a 2.5-kilometer pipeline from the Werribee Recycled Water Plant.
The Elephant Trail was developed as part of an $88 million state government investment and includes a scenic walking trail that connects the elephants' open space, barns, pools, and a cafe.
Despite their vast new home, visitors can still enjoy up-close encounters with these incredible animals.
The new Elephant and Waterhole Trails are now open to zoo members and visitors
Zoos Victoria's herd of nine Asian Elephants recently made its historic journey from Melbourne Zoo to its new 21-hectare habitat in wonderful Werribee.
