Woods Street Arts Space
Woods Street's former post office has been given an artistic makeover and will re-open April 2012 as the Woods Street Arts Space.
Hobsons Bay City Council, with the support of the community, has taken the lease of the former post office, in the spirit of urban renewal recognising the role the arts can play in activating spaces.
Securing the lease of the former post office enables the Council to create a shop front arts hub for various art programs such as Art in Public Places, exhibitions and workshops.
To coincide with the official opening of Woods street Arts Space, a program of events and workshops will also be launched. This program includes LEAP, the Laverton Exhibition and Arts Program for 2012 presented by the Laverton Arts and Culture Forum.
This program will support a series of exhibitions and workshops during the year providing opportunities for both emerging and established artists to exhibit and to share their knowledge and skills with others. The Laverton Arts and Culture Forum is always keen to attract new members and further information can be obtained by calling Pat O'Brien on 9932 3800.
