After months in the works, the shopping centre's new mega food and entertainment hub, The Social Quarter, will open to the public from 1.30pm on Wednesday. The Social Quarter Five new restaurants are part of the $70m precinct, including on-site brewery UA Brewing Co, Piccolina Gelateria, mod-Asian eatery White and Wongs, rooftop Sardine Bar and all-day eatery Cityfields, which will open at a later date. Italian restaurant Cinque Terre, the first venue to open in the space last December, will also leverage the retractable roofed-space after operating indoors for three months. Electric circus Archie Brothers, Strike Bowling, Holey Moley and immersive game experience Hijinx Hotel will also launch in the 10,000sq m space. Centre manager Daniel Boyle said The Social Quarter's distinct louvred roof would give Melburnians year-round climate control. "This first-of-its-kind precinct is a place where no matter your age, the time of day, or the occasion "there is something for everyone," Mr Boyle said. The Social Quarter was designed by architects Jackson Clements Burrows, Buchan, Decibel and Lat Studios and builders, Hacer. For now, the space can be accessed via the elevators near the cinemas.
