The Midnight Tram

The Midnight Tram

Melbourne's trams and landmarks are the inspiration for the children's book: The Midnight Tram by Mitchell Toy.

Sunday Herald Sun cartoonist Mitchell Toy spent years developing The Midnight Tram, in which a boy hops on to a tram at midnight and encounters a range of colourful characters and adventures.

The book features Melbourne's landmarks, such as the MCG, the GPO building, the Manchester United building, Princes Bridge and St Kilda's Luna Park.

Mitchell Toy grew up in Melbourne.

Before becoming a full time artist and illustrator, he was a journalist, cartoonist, court sketch artist, video producer and digital editor for the Herald Sun newspaper for almost ten years. His cartoon, Toy's Melbourne, is featured each week in the Sunday Herald Sun.
