The European

The European

Sitting opposite the Victorian grandeur of Parliament House our three venues have gained iconic status amongst Melburnians and visitors alike.

Reminiscent of old world Europe, The European mines the traditions of rural France, Italy and Spain.

7.30 to late, breakfast to dinner, 7 days a week, The European serves honest, simple food, sourcing only the best produce from Australia and Europe. This institution is a must visit, even if it's just for one of this city's finest coffees.

'....the European is not Spanish... Nor is it French, Italian, Austrian or Greek. The European is a hybrid creation that evokes memories (and the occasional bit of longing) for the wine bars and cafes of all those places; and the extent to which the concept resonates with Melbournians can be measured in the place's longevity...' Whether you are planning an intimate dinner for twelve, or hosting a lavish cocktail party for 150, our iconic Melbourne venues, offer distinctly versatile spaces.

Complete with dark wood panelling and impressive high ceilings, The Tea Room is reminiscent of a Victorian Gentleman's Club. This versatile space caters to all types of events and allows a variety of room configurations including boardroom, classroom and, of course, intimate dining. The Tea Room can accommodate up to 50 guests seated or 80 guests standing and is available Monday to Sunday, day or night.

Perched over Spring Street, overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral and the grandeur of Parliament House, our rooftop terrace offers a view of Old World Melbourne rarely glimpsed. Siglo can accommodate up to 70 guests seated or 150 guests standing, and is available Monday to Sunday, days only.

Regarded as an institution the Melbourne Supper Club is perfect for stand up cocktail events or small intimate lunches.

Spring Street Grocer is the newest addition to the European Group. A specialist providore showcasing the freshest organic produce, comforting takeaway food, gelato bar and quality artisan cheese. Our cheese cellar and private underground dining room has recently been completed. The room is accessed by an orange spiral staircase and is sandwiched between an inspiring sea of cheese wheels to one side and a cellar of wines to the other. The room accommodates up to 20 guests for an intimate dinner, 30 for a cheese and wine tutorial and up to 40 for a lavish cocktail party.
