150th Anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church of St John the Baptist, Clifton Hill
ST JOHN THE BAPTIST'S CHURCH, CLIFTON HILL CELEBRATES 150 YEARS
AND YOU'RE INVITED
This year is the 150th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church of St John the Baptist, Clifton Hill
Three events have been planned. They are:
21 February at 2pm in the church: A talk, It's a wonder it was built at all, a history of St John the Baptist's given by parish historian and archivist, John Andrews. Copies of John's book, St John the Baptist's: a church and its community will be available for sale at $35 with proceeds going to the church's Art Restoration Fund.
27 February: Being the actual date of the laying of the foundation stone a parish Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm
1 March: Mass at 11.00am with the Archbishop of Melbourne, Most Rev Peter A Comensoli and
the Archbishop of Perth, Most Rev Timothy Costelloe, our first Salesian parish priest. A Parish Celebration will follow.
Everyone is most welcome to attend any or all of the three events.
