Experience Melbourne's Docklands in a new way this summer. Take the Docklands SoundWalk and discover the area's fascinating past.
Armed with a 'SmartPhone' and headphones, follow a walking route and encounter audio episodes that bring the Docklands to life.
The first of its kind in Australia, the Docklands SoundWalk uses QR (quick response) codes to deliver a series of audio episodes straight to your mobile phone. Follow a specified walking route and along the way encounter QR codes either on the ground or on information panels.
How it works
Head down to the INFO box (sign/poster) near the corner of Harbour Esplanade and Bourke St with your phone and scan the poster. This will..
- Launch the QR scanning app on your 'SmartPhone', following any on-screen instructions. This will take you to the Docklands SoundWalk mobile website.
- Plug in your headphones and push the 'PLAY' button on your screen and listen to the audio episode.
- When the episode ends, select the 'MAP' button at the bottom of the page, which will show you where the next stop is. Walk to the next stop and repeat the process until the end of the SoundWalk.
