Sea, River, Spirit, Air

Sea, River, Spirit, Air features works by Bakandji Elder Aunty Jeanie Mason, Trawlwoolway artist Bronwyn David, Wadawurrung artist Alisha Fagan and Wiradjuri artist Tricia "Vandal" Van Der-Kuyp.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the river as a bloodline, the sea as a place of calm, spirit as a guiding force, and air as an element inhabited by birds and butterflies.

While each artist approaches these themes in their own way, a shared connection to Country, earth, birthplace and ancestral home runs throughout the exhibition.

Deeply personal and culturally grounded, the works reflect individual stories, experiences and perspectives while celebrating the enduring relationship between people, place and identity.

Curated by Carla Gottgens, Sea, River, Spirit, Air offers visitors the opportunity to engage with the work of four contemporary First Nations artists whose practices are shaped by connection, creativity and culture.
