Save Khyat's Hotel

The Save Khyat's Hotel citizens' action group was formed to save, preserve and protect the iconic 19th century Khyat's Hotel from either a total demolition or a virtual demolition with only the façade covering further inappropriate apartments. Khyat's is a cultural institution of the community and is an important part of the intangible heritage of Bayside. The owner / developer has a permit for a 21 apartment development which retains the hotel. He now seeks to add a further 5 apartments and destroy the hotel in the process. Our mission is to resist the owner / developer and seek to keep a fully functioning hotel for the benefit of the community. We want it to be well managed and well patronised and to keep its vital place in our community and cultural heritage. WE OPPOSE THE DESTRUCTION OF THIS ICONIC INSTITUTION
