Melbourne has one old, one new gallery, now at the same address, 310 Rathdowne Street, Carlton North.
The Joshua McClelland Print Room has been open since 1927 and is the oldest continuously operating gallery in Australia. Director Joan McClelland, who celebrated her 100th birthday last July, and her daughter Patricia, have joined with her second daughter Philippa and husband Bill in their new space, Rathdowne Galleries.
Rathdowne Galleries has three galleries, one large and two small and the exhibition program is broad, including Australian and Asian Art contemporary and historical and contemporary art and design.
The exhibition program includes single artist shows, group shows and especially selected works from the stock room, including historical works and contemporary art on the secondary market. We are looking forward to an exciting 2014.
