The Punt Road Project |

An intersection of stories about Punt Road / Hoddle Street, Melbourne.
From Clifton Hill to St Kilda Junction, this infamous stretch of bitumen bears witness
to love, hate, joy, violence, compassion and frustration - day in, day, out.
Everyone has a tale to tell.
The Punt Road Project is a collaborative story-telling project focusing on experiences of Melbourne's main artery.
Gathering the community's memories, pictures, anecdotes and artefacts the project exhibits the multiple stories of life on and around this road.
The Punt Road Project
The Punt Road Project is a collaborative venture by Anna McGrath, Penelope Chai and Rita Walsh that is investigating what Punt Road means to Melburnians.
To all our Punt Road Project contributors
Thank you for your wonderful contributions to the Punt Road Project. We've been overwhelmed by the quantity and diversity of stories, memories and images that we've received.
Clearly Punt Road and Hoddle Street mean many things to many people. We've had stories from as far back as the late 1800s through to just a few weeks ago. Stories of birth, death, love and hate, and evocative memories of sights, smells and sounds.
We've heard so many different ways that people traverse the road: in a horse and cart, a Morris Minor, a billy cart, a Jaguar E-Type Coupe, a yoghurt truck, a big green bus, an ambulance, driving in reverse, vomiting out a window, drunk, sobbing, walking in the rain, busting for a wee, on a bike or, even, asleep. And Punt Road Hill has featured heavily.
DRIVE. DASH. RAGE. PASH. CRY. CRASH. TELL.
