PentridgeShayher Group purchased the Pentridge site in 2013.
Our main objective is to create an integrated hub of community activity with contemporary, architecturally superb residential, commercial and retail spaces that add to and celebrate the site's rich heritage.
BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO A LANDMARK
The vision for Pentridge is to create a vibrant, well-designed urban village that invigorates an important historical asset, transforming it into a new community hub complete with housing, retail, community areas and public open spaces.
The site is perfectly located to become the new heart of Coburg: a centre that will enhance the overall livability of the area by providing opportunities for integrated residential, commercial, food, leisure and retail offerings.
Preserving the site's historic integrity, such as the famous bluestone walls, will be a priority. Thoughtful design and high quality construction will seamlessly integrate new buildings with existing heritage assets.
THE PERFECT LOCATION
Easy to get to by car or public transport, Pentridge is just 8 kilometres from the heart of Melbourne. Close to bustling Sydney Road, the longest shopping strip in Melbourne and beautiful Merri Creek, it is well positioned to cater for all lifestyle needs.
An Icon Reborn
Pentridge is unique. Built of solid bluestone, its foundations are firmly rooted in Melbourne's history. Pentridge Coburg is an exciting project to reinvigorate the northern-most section of this iconic treasure, encompassing A, B, E and H Divisions as well as the Warden's Quarters and Parade Ground.
We've recently overseen a massive restoration project to restore the original heritage fabric as authentically as possible - including A and H Divisions and the iconic guard towers along the site perimeter - through extensive consultation with heritage experts, and with a team of master builders working with traditional tools and methods.
The vision for Pentridge is to create a vibrant, well-designed urban village that invigorates this important historical asset, honouring the past while welcoming the future. New and historical architecture will sit side by side, and the heart of Coburg reborn as a thriving centre of creativity, culture and commerce for the community, including a Palace Cinema complex and award-winning restaurants such as Zero 95.
Preserving the site's historic integrity, such as the famous bluestone walls, has been an ongoing priority. Through thoughtful design and high quality construction new buildings will integrate seamlessly with the existing heritage assets, granting future generations the opportunity to explore this extraordinary location.
