Northcote Plaza enjoys a devoted following like no other in Melbourne.

NORTHCOTE Plaza is gaining cult status as a last bastion against the suburb's gentrification, with at least two internet networking groups formed in its honour. A plaza of distinction, 25 Nov 08 @ 12:30pm by Julia Irwin - Northcote Leader.

Thornbury resident Pixie Skase said she didn't realise how many people just love the plaza when she started The Northcote Plaza Appreciation Society.

Northcote shoppers Bridget Varasso and Adam Inglis unaware of the other group formed the appreciation group simply named Northcote Plaza. 'If I'm in a bad mood and I go to the plaza I often feel better because it's got a real sense of community.'

If Mick Thomas is willing to mention Northcote Plaza in a song, then the management of said plaza should seriously consider some kind of a monument dedicated to him. Darebin Appropriate Development Association

Darebin Appropriate Development Association DADA was formed to fight against the construction of two multi-level buildings above Northcote Plaza. DADA, locals and Darebin Council failed in the fight (the towers were built), DADA continues its fight against inappropriate development in Darebin.
