The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is making a real difference to the lives of people in the City of Yarra.
The NJC is the first of its kind in Australia. It brings together a multi-jurisdictional court with a wide array of onsite support services and community programs. Our aims are to:
lower the crime rate
assist victims of crime
strengthen the community.
Good law is about strong community
As a community justice centre our approach is holistic, therapeutic and practical. We help people to tackle the causes of their offending. With services such as mediation, legal advice, counselling, material aid as well as housing and training support, we are enhancing wellbeing and keeping people connected.
The NJC flourishes with the active participation of the local community. Together we are working to improve safety and prevent crime.
By working at a local level, the NJC is helping to create a safer place to live, work and visit.
