Ned Kelly's Armour

Ned Kelly's Armour is one of the State Library's most celebrated and controversial artefacts
Australia's most notorious bushranger has split public opinion for more than a century - Edward 'Ned' Kelly is a criminal who robbed and killed to some, but a heroic underdog to others.
Ned Kelly's armour alongside the notorious bushranger's boot, rifle and a reproduction of the Jerilderie Letter is on show daily at the State Library.
The new display of Kelly's armour (worn during the final siege), alongside his colourful Jerilderie letter, sidesteps the often-told Kelly stories to ask provocative questions about truth, mythmaking and nationhood.

Visit Ned Kelly's armour and prepare to have your convictions challenged.
