Name Our New City Bridge > Seafarers Bridge

The City of Melbourne has invited Melburnians to name the new cycle and pedestrian bridge over the Yarra River at the South Wharf precinct. The opportunity to enter was open to all members of the public. Entrants were required to submit their suggested name for the bridge, and a reason for their suggestion. The shortlist will be considered by the Melbourne City Council and the preferred bridge name decided and endorsed later in 2009. Seafarers Bridge The new bridge was named Seafarers Bridge due to its promimity to Mission to Seafarers. Melbourne's newest bridge Seafarers Bridge at South Wharf links the north and south sides of the Yarra River near the Melbourne Recital Centre and Convention Centre.
