Free weekend travel
FREE public transport on weekends for a two month period.
From 30 November 2025, public transport in Victoria will be free for everyone, every weekend until February 1 2026.
Passengers won't need a valid ticket or myki to travel for free and ticket barriers will be set to open. However, some regional services will continue to require a reservation at zero cost to manage seating capacity, in-line with existing requirements.
On services using myki, passengers won't be required to tap on or off with their myki. However, a zero-tariff will be applied to the myki system for the free travel periods, to ensure that passengers who continue to tap on or off won't be charged.
