Melbourne Arts Club Gallery and StudioWe represent, curate and document the arts and arty type things in Melbourne via our Art Blog, Gallery and Studio.
We like art. Not wank.
We don't really use the terms 'immersive experience', 'liminal' or 'spacial engagement'. We like plain language, with pictures. Lots of pictures. We like pictures. And Art. And Melbourne. Think of us as an arty love tunnel, funnelling cool art and culture to you with a smile on our faces and beers in our hands.
We represent through a weekly 'what's on' newsletter, Wreck Yo'Self. From the small to emerging, mid-level and sometimes even the big stuff, we give our audience a weekly list of cool arty stuff to see and do. We publicise this on our website, newsletter and popular social media channels.
We have a gallery and studio in Preston. Here we curate exhibitions to showcase the best in a variety of mediums, running an annual series DRAW, PAINT, BUILD, SCREEN, SHOOT. Our gallery is for hire for solo or group exhibitions, events and launches. More information can be found HERE.
The gallery is architecturally designed, with walls made from shipping pallets and recycled materials, moving away from the traditional gallery aesthetic, to a more changeable and dynamic space. We have three spaces Gallery 1, Gallery 2 and the Project Space. Gallery 1 and 2 have moveable walls and can be transformed into one large gallery or event space. Our project space faces the front window with great exposure to people passing by.
We want to continue our quest to represent and document artists and art in Melbourne. By building our own space we can also create an environment that is captivating, fun and welcoming. Not to mention great for shit hot opening night parties. A place where people stay longer than 5 minutes or 1 beer but hang out and chat, bring their friends and family and experience the art for more than a few seconds.
We document Melbourne's art and culture through word and image. This gives our audience something to read and look at while they should be working. Articles vary from lists of movies to see at film festivals, artist profiles, photos from openings and other bloody great creative type stuff.
