According to the Herald Sun's Bob Hart, Kin has 'broken many of Carlton's rules of engagement' and is not your average garlic-y Lygon Street fare - Kin is found way north up the strip, right across from the famous Enoteca Sileno...and it seems Kin is indeed a worthy player.
A stylish and modern interior still manages to exude the warmth and Italian hospitality of its owners, who together with staff and two of their children, run this restaurant which will soon undoubtedly enjoy a status on par with that of its neighbour.
The food is a blend of wholesome and modern Italian, with various other ethnic influences often added which may sometimes surprise, but will always delight. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, the meals are always impeccably presented, and manage to taste even better than they look.
There is a fine range of wines on offer at attractive prices, and the full bar also produces a house digestive called a "sgroppino"- whipped prosecco (Italian sparkling wine) and lemon sorbet in a champagne flute - a semi-frozen pleasure that many believe is sure to become a signature favourite.
As professed in Kin's mission statement, their philosophy is that good eating is essential to a good life...and we believe they've made an excellent start to fulfilling this goal for their customers, who will be sure to return time and again to this seductive new 'culinary oasis.'
