Gingerboy is a modern Australian adaptation of Asian hawker-style street market food. The restaurant's fast-paced, youthful and dynamic environment is influenced by buzzing Asian marketplaces and an Asian sense of colour and fun.
inspired by the street kitchens, hawker foods and vendors from Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore is where south-eastern cuisine meets Melbourne style with a comtemporary edge.
Iconic Melbourne restaurant Gingerboy is renowned for its funky decor, Asian-inspired dishes and hip laneway location. Serving creative street food, based around plates for sharing, chef Teage Ezard takes a unique and bold approach to food of the region.
The dining experience at Gingerboy is centred on a modern Australian adaptation of the Asian hawker-style street market food. The restaurant's hustle and bustle, its fast-paced, youthful and dynamic environment is influenced not only by the dining culture of Southeast Asia but also by buzzing Asian marketplaces and an Asian sense of colour and fun.
Menus at Gingerboy are written according to the seasons. The approach over the colder months is to braise, steam and cook curries and clay pots, using subtle, deep flavours, while cooking in the warmer climate brings cool, refreshing, crisp, clean and more vibrant flavours to the menu. We use each ingredient at the height of its flavour, colour, appearance and quality. This approach in our philosophy is the most significant, as it delivers consistently great dishes.
