Drouin Ficifolia Festival 2020
2020 is the 32nd annual Ficifolia Festival for the township of Drouin.
The festival celebrates the flowering gums that line the streets of our beautiful town as well as the vast array of community groups and people that make Drouin what it is today. Each year the Ficifolia Festival brings Drouin alive with colour excitement and fun for everyone.
It is a week-long festival with events and attractions showcasing many of our community groups and businesses who freely give their time to lots of displays competitions and events. The name 'Ficifolia' came about as it is Latin for Flowering Gum.
All of Drouin's Ficifolia trees which line both sides of Princes Way are Heritage Listed. The Baw Baw Shire tries its best to plant Ficifolia Trees where ever possible however they are very difficult to keep alive their first twelve months as they cannot cope with frost.
The high point of the Festival is on the second Saturday in February* with a vibrant Street Parade preceded by entertainment and children's activities. For the first time in the Festival's history the Street Parade will kick off at 5pm and will be followed by musical entertainment in the Park an Open-air Family Film and finally a Fireworks Display wraps up the big day.
* Please note" changed in 2020.
The many community groups and businesses that stage an event are eager to welcome new-comers and visitors to join in meet new people and make new friends. These events are all organised by volunteers who are passionate about their town.
So come along enjoy your day and get to know Drouin.
