Duneira Estate

Original 1872 Hill Station and Grand Garden
Officer Lane, Mount Macedon,Victoria 3441, Australia

Duneira is an historic House and Garden (circa 1872) on Mount Macedon, Victoria.

It is considered to be "the jewel in the crown" of the small collection of hill stations left on Mount Macedon after the devastation of the Ash Wednesday fires in 1983.

Stuart Rusden Stoneman was the last owner of Duneira and upon his death in 2002, he bequeathed the estate to the care of the S.R. Stoneman Foundation.

The heritage garden comprises 38 acres and contains many trees that are listed on the National Trust Significant Tree Register.

The house was built in 1875, in the Italianate Villa style, and houses Stoneman's substantial Art Collection, his extensive Library, his Persian rugs, Grand pianos, and interesting Antique furniture.

National Trust 'Statement of Significance' :
" Duneira, laid out by Suetonius Henry Officer in the 1870s, and carefully developed and managed by subsequent long-term owners, is of National Significance."

Duneira is open at various times throughout the year for House and Garden Tours and various other events.
