Cranbourne Race Course
Cranbourne is unique - each year it holds a special tricode raceday of gallops, trots and dogs.
In total, 23 races are run on the day - eight each for gallops and trots and seven for the dogs with a race each 15 minutes. It is a great family day with a heap of activities - and the ideal adventure for the punk-drunk.
Cranbourne is 48 Kms south east of Melbourne.
Cranbourne Turf Club
The Cranbourne Turf Club conduct regular race meetings for every year.
All are full TAB meetings, culminating with the prestigious Group Three Browns Sawdust & Shavings Cranbourne Cup in October. A major lead up to the coveted Caulfield and Melbourne Cups double.
In 1998 the Cup was won by Lisa's Game, ridden by Aaron Spiteri and trained by Tony Vasil. Lisa's Game went on to come 2nd to Taufan's Melody in the 1998 Caulfield Cup. 1999 Cup was won by Figurehead trained by Kay Lane and ridden by Nash Rawiller.
Situated in a picturesque setting at the top end of town, the track boasts superb member and public facilities for you to enjoy a day out at the races. Bring a picnic or enjoy fine dinning in one of our Dining Rooms.
Racing commenced at Cranbourne with a two day meeting held on 22nd & 23rd April 1867.
