Cock of the Bay 2025 | Yacht Race

Cock of the Bay (Boxing Day Dash) Bay Yacht Race
This hugely popular race on Port Phillip Bay is held each year on Boxing Day (26th Decmber).
The 34nm course starts near Station Pier in Port Melbourne and is designed to sail past major bayside locations, including Royal Brigton Yacht Club (RBYC), Brighton and Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC), Sandringham.
Some say there is no better way to work off the excesses of Christmas the day before. Besides being a great classic race in its own right, the event serves as a feeder for the blue water classic Melbourne to Devonport and Melbourne to Hobart ocean yacht races. It also is the first race in the Bass Strait Series, the Sovereign Series and the Salamanca Series.
Berthing is provided at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron (BYS) at the conclusion of the race where meals and refreshments are also available.
The record fleet size is over 100 yachts. There are great vantage points for spectators at Port Melbourne, St Kilda pier, Brighton Pier, Sandringham and Hampton foreshore.
Bay Race of 36 nautical miles | Race Starts off Port Melbourne, at 1030 hours AEDT on December 26 (Boxing Day) every year.
