Carlos Barrios: Sagrada Familia

Lennox St. Gallery is pleased to present *Carlos Barrios: Sagrada Familia*, an exhibition of recent works that reflects on the relationships, experiences and connections that shape the human condition.

Through painting and ceramics, Barrios examines the acts of love, devotion and belonging that link individuals together, whether through family, friendship, shared purpose or common experience. The exhibition celebrates the idea that humanity forms a single interconnected family, extending beyond cultural and national boundaries to encompass the natural and spiritual worlds.

Drawing on themes of coexistence, compassion and unity, *Sagrada Familia* invites audiences to consider the common ground shared by all living beings. Rich in symbolism and humanity, the works reflect Barrios' enduring fascination with the connections that bind people to one another and to the wider universe.

Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, in 1966, Carlos Barrios is a painter, sculptor, ceramicist and printmaker whose distinguished career spans more than three decades. Since the mid-1990s he has held regular solo exhibitions throughout Australia and El Salvador, building a reputation for works that combine technical mastery with deeply human themes.

His work has been featured in numerous significant group exhibitions, including *Reflections of Australia* in Zhengzhou, China, exhibitions at New England Regional Art Museum, and *Peace, Place, Prizes and Pictures In Between* at Maitland Regional Art Gallery. Barrios has also been recognised through major art awards, winning the Drawing Prize at the Liverpool City Art Prize and being selected as a finalist in prestigious awards including the Sulman Prize, Blake Prize, Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing and Fisher's Ghost Art Award.

Today, his works are represented in public, corporate and private collections throughout Australia and internationally, including collections in El Salvador and Nicaragua. Barrios lives and works in Currumbin Valley, Queensland.

Visitors are invited to experience this thoughtful and uplifting exhibition, which celebrates our shared humanity and the ties that connect us across cultures, species and generations.
